This page is not neutral
Rewardfinity wrote this page. We make one of the two products on it and we would like you to try ours. Use it to find the questions worth asking, then check the answers on the other vendor's site.
We do not print a competitor's price, because prices change and a stale figure published as fact is just an old screenshot — check their current pricing page. Smile.io details here come from their public documentation as we read it while writing. If something has gone out of date, their site is the authority.
The seven differences that usually decide it
Where a detail belongs to the other vendor and can move without notice, we say so rather than guess.
| Dimension | Rewardfinity | Smile.io |
|---|---|---|
| Primary channel | In-store first, online second. The counter is the design centre. | Ecommerce first. The storefront and cart are the design centre. |
| In-store path | Square natively; Clover, Lightspeed, Loyverse, Zettle and Vend through Zapier webhooks; a counter screen on any tablet. | Primarily Shopify POS. Plan availability is theirs to state — check their current documentation. |
| Stamp cards | A first-class mechanic: threshold, stamps per purchase, minimum spend, up to five milestones, remainder carried forward. | Points, referrals and VIP tiers are the documented mechanics. A digital stamp card is not among them. |
| Staff incentives | A product surface: counter actions attributed per staff member, feeding a staff spin wheel with an owner-set allowance. | No staff-incentive surface we can find. Staff motivation is advice, as with most loyalty tools. |
| Pricing model | Indexed to local purchasing power across 36 countries. | One published plan ladder. Compare the model here, read the numbers on their pricing page. |
| Free tier | Yes: 100 members, points plus one stamp card, one QR campaign. | Their pricing page documented a free plan when we read it. Its limits are theirs to state and they move — check their current page. |
| API access | A public REST API with idempotent writes and HMAC-signed webhooks. | A documented API exists. Which plans include it is theirs to state. |
Four things Smile.io does better than we do
A comparison that finds nothing good in the other product is marketing, not analysis. If any of these four matters most to you, they are the better answer.
- Onboarding craft. Install it and a working program already exists: an earn rule, a redemption, a launcher. Removing the blank page is harder than it looks, and we ask more of you up front.
- Ecommerce-first polish. Years of iteration on the launcher, the panel, redemption at checkout, and how the whole thing sits inside a theme. If your program lives on a storefront, that shows.
- Ecosystem maturity. A long list of tested connections into email, reviews, helpdesk and subscription tools. A merchant already running that stack will hit fewer gaps there than with us.
- Recognition and track record. Their app-store listing carries an install count and a review history, each with a date attached. We will not restate either figure here, because both move and a number we cannot date is worth nothing to you — read them on the listing itself. Rewardfinity is newer, built and run by one developer in Ontario. If other merchants having already stress-tested a tool carries weight, that is a real argument.
Where we are actually a different product
The same program at the till
An ecommerce-first tool treats the physical shop as an extension; we treat it as the default. Staff enrol at the counter in one screen, and points and stamps land on the same member record as an online order. The in-store loyalty path is what we design first.
Stamp cards as a real mechanic
Buy nine, get the tenth is still the clearest rule a small shop can explain, and it is not points with the numbers changed. We ship thresholds, stamps per purchase, minimum spend, up to five milestones and remainder carry. The points versus stamp cards guide walks the choice.
Staff incentives you can run
Plenty of loyalty tools suggest running a staff signup competition. Far fewer ship the thing you would need to run one — per-person attribution — which is why most of these competitions end up tracked on a whiteboard. We attribute counter actions per person and convert them into a staff spin wheel with an allowance you set, on the staff device screen.
QR channel campaigns
Single-use codes with a budget cap and a kill switch, so a code on a flyer or a partner's counter can be measured and stopped rather than guessed at.
None of that makes us better in general — better fitted to a shop with a counter, worse fitted to a pure online catalogue. If you run Shopify and also have a room people walk into, our Shopify loyalty app is live and approved.
Compare the pricing model, not the sticker
Most loyalty apps publish one ladder in US dollars and charge every merchant the same figure. Rewardfinity indexes to local purchasing power across 36 countries: the paid entry plan is US $29 in the United States, CA$39 in Canada, £24 in the UK, A$45 in Australia, ₹499 in India and ₦9,900 in Nigeria. Those are separate numbers for separate economies, not conversions of one another.
Assumption, so you can check the arithmetic: at ₹85 to the dollar — look up today's rate, it moves — a flat $29 sticker is about ₹2,465. Our India price of ₹499 is near a fifth of that. Outside North America and Western Europe, that gap rather than the feature grid is often the whole decision. Our pricing page shows the plan boundaries in your currency.
Check one more thing before signing anywhere: what pushes you up a tier. Some apps meter on orders, some on member count, some on features. That metering, not the headline figure, decides what you pay in month nine.
What moving a live program actually costs you
Switching loyalty tools is a customer-value migration, not a software install.
- Export members, balances and earn history first, and confirm the file opens before you touch the live program.
- Decide the conversion rule for balances and publish it before the first affected transaction, not after the first complaint.
- Import by CSV, then spot-check accounts by hand against the old export.
- Test refunds and threshold-crossing on a real transaction before staff are told to use the new screen.
- Keep the old program readable for a month, so a disputed balance can be settled with evidence.
Questions people ask before switching
What is the best Smile.io alternative for a shop with a physical location?
Pick a tool whose in-store path is a first-class product rather than an add-on. Rewardfinity connects to Square natively, and to Clover, Lightspeed, Loyverse, Zettle and Vend through Zapier webhooks, with a counter screen staff open on a tablet. Whatever you shortlist, test the enrolment flow at your own till during a busy hour.
Is Rewardfinity cheaper than Smile.io?
We will not publish their price, because it changes and a stale figure would mislead you — check their current pricing page. The models differ: they publish one global ladder, we index to local purchasing power across 36 countries, so the paid entry plan is US $29 in the United States and ₹499 in India.
Does Smile.io do digital stamp cards?
Their documented mechanics are points, referrals and VIP tiers, as their public documentation described the product while this page was written. A digital stamp card is not among them. In Rewardfinity a stamp card is first-class: threshold, stamps per purchase, minimum spend, up to five milestones and remainder carried forward.
Can I move my existing loyalty members and points over?
Yes, by CSV import, and it is worth doing carefully. Export members and balances from the current tool first and confirm the file opens. Publish your conversion rule before the first affected transaction, then spot-check individual accounts against the original export. The risk is silent value loss, not the import.
Does Rewardfinity work with Shopify?
Yes. There is a live, approved Shopify app, and online orders and in-store visits land on the same member record. Where the two products differ is emphasis: an ecommerce-first tool designs the storefront first, and we design the counter first. If your revenue is almost entirely online, that emphasis favours them.
Can I trust a comparison written by one of the vendors?
Only partly. Rewardfinity wrote this page and sells one of the two products. We have tried to earn some of that trust by naming four things the other product does better and by refusing to quote a price we cannot date. Check every competitor claim here against their own site.
Test the counter, not the feature list.
